High surf along north- and west-facing shores of the Big Island’s northern and eastern coasts has prompted the closure of a handful of East Hawaii Beach Parks.

High surf along north- and west-facing shores of the Big Island’s northern and eastern coasts has prompted the closure of a handful of East Hawaii Beach Parks.

Richardson, Leleiwi, Carlsmith, Kealoha and Onekahakaha beach parks, and Coconut Island, Hawaii County Civil Defense said Wednesday morning.

Beachgoers, swimmers and surfers are advised to exercise caution and to heed all advice given by Ocean Safety officials.
